Wrong Boat Buddies

A summer song memorializing an incredible day at Fire Island, New York, with my friend Tony 🙂

It happened in 2021, but it could just as well be today!

Six of us decided to take a day-trip to Fire Island, Long Island, New York on a July 4th week.

Tony and I broke off from the rest to park our cars. The others went on to the ferry and we would meet them there. We parked and got onto the first ferry we found, thinking that the others were already on board and that there was only one ferry going to Fire Island - going to the same location. The ferry took off, and we soon learned that the others were at a different ferry (still waiting on shore) and that there were multiple ferries going to different parts of the island. We needed to be on the one going to Ocean Beach, but instead, we were on one going to a place called Kismet. What unfolded was an incredibly unexpected (and unforgettable) day filled with new friends, fun, and laughs - and Rocket Fuel 🙂

That's the basis of this song. But the big message is that our lives need to have unplanned events. Things that just happen - and we need to accept them and just go with the flow because those moments can be filled with magic delivered by God.
