Anger & Hate

Anger and Hate are human conditions that create hurt throughout the world. But where does it come from?

In 2019, I did a bit of research to find out where anger, hatred and prejudice come from. The basic question I had was, "Are we born with it, or is it something acquired - learned?" The research that I found was an eye-opener. What I learned is that we are NOT born with (it is not genetic); rather, it is learned through repetitive experience and stories told to us at an early age. One paper found that by 9 years old, children are learning to like and not like as they are shown, and they are learning it from Friends, Family and Society. But of these, teachers, parents, and family members are the most impactful. Of course, this makes sense because these individuals are who children are around most often, but again, the early age - when it takes root - was a stunner to me.
